Mark,
It is already known not to be a 379. Shots of the test build have been seen on one of the Yahoo groups. It is definitely a 378 with the sleeper and quarter fenders from the 377 as well as the new decals which include an updated dash decal. Italeri put the 379 on the box because it had the stripes represented in the kit.
Also the cab height and other parts would have to be modified in order to correctly represent a 379. The 378 cab and sleeper sits higher off the frame than the 379.

What I am wondering is will it be a 379 that is being marketed as a 378 I am willing to throw a hundred dollar bill at it to find out. That might be were the extra expense is coming from if they re tooled for a new hood. As for the big sleeper not a selling point for me. I would be more interested in weather or not it is a 379. I'm betting not but I guess we will have to wait and see. Mark no its a 378.

Could one make this kit a 379? Jim, There are a couple 379 conversions available for the 378 kit. One is by Gary at GWtrucks and the other, mastered by Matt(monkeyclaw) is available from Eric at P&P resin. STS also has one I believe mastered by Tim. Les

Ok
Thanks for the info 100 bucks is a little steep for a sleeper I would toss anyway. I know the difference in cab height between the 378 and 379 I drive a 378 and when you park it next to a 379 you can definitely tell the difference.

I just saw one of these kits at Walt's Hobbies in Camillus, NY; and it was $89.50. A little steep for my pocket book, but Walt's prices tend to be a little on the high side.
