Hello Guys, I did some cleaning out of my Photo Bucket account and also dropped a couple of other sites so I could concentrate on only posting on this one so I am re-posting some of my stuff here in the showroom. Paulie

That is a nice loking Pete. I like the stripes. Are they painted or is it a decal? The shine of the fuel tanks is eye catching. No belts around to hold them in place may seem to be technically inaccurate, but at the same time it is a fantastic custom feature. I also like that the tool boxes are not as shiny as the rest of the chrome parts. It makes the fuel tanks stand out even more. These snap kits come cheap, but they can be changed into some attractive builts. Like the one of yours.

Jarda Jarda, One day I have plans to go back and put the straps on the tanks because your right they are not correct at this point. The graphics for this truck I designed and printed on vinyl and then applied them. The tanks are wood dowels with chrome vinyl applied to them. I was looking for more of the aluminum look on the boxes. Paulie

Wood dowels for the tanks? Can we see how you did that? What a sharp looking rig! Dan

Paulie the tanks are not inaccurate if you are simulating the strapless style that is used on show trucks. here is the tank design i'm speaking of. the mounts cradle under the tanks.

Yes, great custom feature. I am glad to see it does exist. Thanks for sharing. See Paulie? No need to add them strapes. The tanks on the real truck shine just like the ones on your model. Let it shine, man, let it shine.

Wood dowels for the tanks? Can we see how you did that? What a sharp looking rig! Dan Dan, It was real easy really on the tanks. I sanded them down real well with fine grit sand paper and then covered them with chrome vinyl. I cut the ends in that same vinyl using my vinyl cutter so they were the exact size of the dowels. I then used styrene strips and attached them with vary very thin double sided tape to hold them in place and then secured them to the tanks with tiny flat head nails. They were cut so they warped half way around the tank with a straight section at the top to adhere to the frame rails. I have heard of some guys using PVC pipe to do tanks as well so that may be something that you might want to consider. Sorry it took so long to respond but I have been away from the site for a while and am tying to catch up. As Jarda says I do need to go back and add small strips so it looks like the straps go all the way around the tanks. I hope this helps you Paulie

WOW I did not see the post of the Custom Show Pete posted until I responded to Dan's post so I guess I did something that I did not know existed, but if you look at those pictures of that custom Pete that is just the way mine are on this build! Man I am learning all the time!!!!!! Thanks Hunter for those pictures You are the man! Paulie
