Updating the AMT Ford Louisville

The AMT Ford Louisville trucks are about 1973 (give or take a little). If you build it right out of the box, the engine should be Ford Blue. I believe that by the 1980s the Caterpiller would be yellow.

Daniel at Plaskit Resin offers an update kit that has the newer horizontal bar grill & square headlights.

So you know, the engine is actually a Caterpiller 1160, the predecessor to the 3208. When this engine was build for Ford by Caterpiller it was called the V200 or V220.

You're welcome. The blue/yellow thing just sort of depends on the year. If you don't really know, then the OEM color is a safe bet.

International Harvester had there engines painted IH 2150 Red in the 1970s. The exception was the IH V800 which was metallic blue.

Plaskit has a coulpe differant newer style louisville hoods. I personally don't have either one but if they are like hi other hoods they are awesome. One is set back axle the othere is set forward and has all the updated lights and grill. i hope this helps

He also has an update set. It includes just the grille, new headlights and new ford emblems(blue ovals).
