I'm new to the group and after being out of modeling for the past XX amount of years I'm back. Just picked up the AMT freightliner and Fruehauf 40 ft trailer and have some quick questions.
Does anyone have any sources for 1970's era Texas Trucking Companies? My father worked for JB Hunt and Fruehauf trailers in Houston back in the late 60's to 1980's but I have no photos of the yards during the time. I want to do the truck with a matching trailer so any help would be greatly appreciated, especially detail images.
Also, after starting on this kit, I'm really wishing my dad was still alive. The kit is nice but the instructions are SORELY lacking any direction on where parts attach to each other. My questions are:
1. How does the SHIFT LINKAGE attach to the SHIFT MOUNT BRACKET and where does the SHIFT ROD attach to on the transmission?
2. Why does the FUEL PUMP LINE look like it attaches up under the INTAKE MANIFOLD?
3. Anyone have any in progress build photos of the Freightliner?
4. Can anyone supply me with photos of their chassis build up? Something like that would be great to see in the photo section for us newbies...
I don't remember my kit as a kid being this vague, maybe that's why my dad wound up putting most of it together while I did the trailer...
Thanks in advance,
Ron

My kit is an original issue so some of the instructions may have changed. The "shift rod" should come out of the back of the "shift linkage", the rod would attach to a shift tower on the top of the transmission that's not included in the kit, it goes just forward of center centered side to side. The "fuel pump line" is indeed the air intake for the air compressor, the part they have labeled the "air compressor" is the AC compressor, the actual air compressor is the front two thirds of the "fuel pump", the actual fuel pump is the little square on the back end.
