Hi, fellas. Getting back into this hobby after a long hiatus.
Been interested in trucks since about the age of two. Been around the things for the better part of my life. Autocars, Whites and Western Stars of old have always held a special place in my heart. Prefer older models of anything. Not really attracted to many post '80s models.
Built a few kits in my childhood. If I recall correctly, my first build was an old '89 Batmobile. Never had a knack for painting though. Hopefully I can make up for that in the coming years.
Recently moved from Alabama, USA to New South Wales, Australia, and I had to leave most of my current hobbies and equipment behind for the time being. Over the past few years I took up 1:6 figure building. Hoping to put some of the skills I acquired in my time in that field to model kits.
To remedy not having much to do at night I decided to pick up modeling again. Took a trip to the local hobby shop, and decided to pick up a kit. The missus has always loved trucks as well, so I told her to pick out something for me to build. She chose the Revell T900 Kenny. I know of all the inaccuracies with the kit, but I think since this is my first kit in quite a few years I'm gonna go box stock on this one. The missus seems to like the way it looks on the box, and I don't think I'm up to the task of doing a lot of modding right out of the gate.
I have an old AMT White Western Star and Autocar A64B in America that I never built up. I bought them hoping to replicate some of the trucks from my favourite movie, Maximum Overdrive, but was always too scared to build them up due to their rarity and my general inexperience at painting. I also have an old AMT A64B that's partially built up with a ratty paint job that I plan to eventually strip and build back up. I want a bit of experience under my belt before I start doing anything too extreme though, so box stock builds it is for me for now.
You can probably plan to see me a fair bit in the How Do I...? board.
