I'm thinking about scratchbuilding some Marmon conventionals and was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction with which model kit cab would be the closest to resembling the Marmon cab. I'm thinking the Peterbilt or maybe the W model Kenworth. Thanks...Charlie

From what I've been told, the KW cab is a closer resemblance.

Ive heard that too about the Revell Marmon but, It sure hasnt stopped anyone on there from paying the asking prices and then some I do know it has kept me from wantiong one and hoping that someday someone will make a correct Marmon cab. The only site Ive seen any marmon models listed was an aftermarket place but unfortuantely it says they dont do them anymore and the place it says that took them over doesnt mention anything about the Marmon cabs being offered.

The Revell Marmon kit is the Peterbilt 359 . From the pics I have seen the only Marmon part is the grill.

The hood and the grill are mostly Marmon Built. Marmon was a company that used other companies chassis and cabs and added their own nose to them. Now they pretty much used their own style cab also. I have seen Marmons with Pete cabs, KW cabs even a few Western-Star cabs in the older days. '70s & '80s I'm talking. Marmon's were not built anymore in the later '90s. I think the last ones were built in '96 or '97.

Thanks guys, your input has helped alot. From what I've learned, it just depends on which year I want to model as to which cab to use although from about '91, it looks like marmon started to use their own special cab.
