I'm building a dodge L-700.I'm glad I have two of them to pick and chose parts from.I started the one with least amount of flash, but that back fired, the frame was badly warped.now I'm using best parts from both. Not an easy kit.I wanted one when I was a kid,but my dad said it wasn't a" real truck "so no way.It would of been a nightmare for a kid to do.Here's my question-I'm thinking of changing the DODGE script on the front to FARGO(a Canadian brand sold at Plymouth dealers).Does any one know how to make the raised letters required? Also is the engine blue or red?

i know back in the UK that some of the model shops that did railway stuff had raised plastic letters that you could use for signs etc.. that would work i can't remember who made them though maybe Plastruct or Evergreen do them as for the "quality" of the kit,the less said the better i had always wanted one of these and was prepared to pay upto $80 to get one off ebay but when i heard they were going to re-release it thought i would wait! i am glad i did as if i had paid $80 for one i would have been most p@##ed off! now i don't know if the original was as badly produced as the new one!

The original IMC version was molded in a stronger plastic. When Testors reissued it the quality had dropped a tad. Now with the newist reissue it needs a lot of work. It still builds into a nice kit but needs a lotta work to do it. Back in the day they were built the engines were red.

The best way to do raised letters is to print the logo on .010" styrene sheet. Should not be a problem for most inkjet printers to handle that thickness of styrene. Once you have it printed carefully cut the letters and glue them to your truck...

The latest issue of the Dodge L700, packages as the Dodge only with the group of L700's on the cover and white tractor on the sides has different plastic than the version with the flat bed. There is much less flash, and the plastic is white and crisp.
