Generaly semi gloss. Model Master Acryl or Tamiya.....They are both easy to touch up with brush if needed. Paul

The last frame I painted I used KRYLON FUSION plastic paint in satin black.I'm pleased with the results.I use flat black on fifth wheels.I might try fusion again for cabs because no primer was needed.

I will, most of the time, paint the frame the same as the cab. It's a matter of preferance. Kind of gives it that "special order" look, but it's what ever trips your trigger.

Gloss. The class 7 and 8 truck frames are typically painted with the same type of paint the cab is painted with. I have never seen a new class 7 or 8 truck (KW, Pete, Mack, Freightliner etc) with a flat or semi-gloss chassis. The frame might look flatblack after several months on the road from grime and dirt. Look at the rear differential in this photo.. you can see my reflection. Tim

I was thinking maybe a dump since it is a little short for a tri axle wrecker but i am unsure, would the outfitter put the wet system in or would the truck be ordered with one from the factory? Can you even order one with a wet system factory installed? Since the truck has no fifth wheel plate, the taillights are temporarilly mounted under the sleeper, the back of the frame is cut straight up and down, and no trailer air lines or powercord mounted i figure it isnt going to be a tractor. But i may be wrong.

The Pete in the photo was a Canadian spec. Tri-drive. Maybe a tractor or tanker - Wes Bergman photosThe lamps you see under the sleeper are optional turn signal locations. Here they are on another sleeper, also a tri-drive, this one for Schlumberger. Note the center PTO. And my 1/24th scale version Tim

I have to agree that the gloss looks good on the full size trucks, but I still thing semi-gloss looks good on the models. More in scale, if that makes any sense. You hear a lot about painting in scale in the model ship community, because the scale is so small (1/350, 1/700, etc.) you are viewing the ship from "far away" so some guys try and paint in the atmospheric distortion.
