I just picked up the Italeri Scania "Cool Fruits" tractor and trailer kit for $23.49 tonight. I am very happy with that acquisition. I've been hunting that kit for over a year now...

some of theese kits are out of this world this is supposed to be a fun hobby not a greedy way to make money some of the people on ebay bid on the kits and parts only to just resell them and drive up the price by bidding on there own stuff useing a diffrent name. that is not right and now with the bid asst. it is even harder to win bids on ebay. some times you can find good deals on kits and parts but it is getting harder...........

the trouble with the prices is the "COLLECTORS" as opposed to those of us who buy the kits to build i may have loads of kits i haven't built yet but they have never been bought to hold onto in the hope that i can make a nice profit on them ;D and saying all that a kit is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it

first and foremost--I am a BUILDER-- not a collector-the only reason for collecting is that you got it for a DECENT price and plan on BUILDING it. these collectors with bottomless pockets ought to leave this hobby alone. my pockets ain't very deep--that's why I scan ebay and sometimes pick up some good buys. just my 5 cents worth.

I agree with you Jerry. next to the International Trans Star COE kit I had been searching for, I have been wanting the old AMT Frightliner Dual Drive cabover for ever. The prices these kits bring make my jaw drop every time I see them on E-Bay. I'm also looking for one of the International Paystar logging trucks to build again. I built one of those as a kid and loved it and would really like to tackle it again, only build it better this time around. Discouraging is an understatement when it comes to trying to win these old kits on E-Bay, but I still keep searching and hoping...

Brian, I'm like you--most of the old amt kits do bring a mad price, one thought though-with all our scratchbuilding skills (some of us are very limited), the paystar logger could be duplicated with either the mixer or dump kit. I haven't thought about doing that yet. tooo many other irons going. Jerry

No offense taken here Buddy. I have seen kits that sold 2 weeks ago end up back on E-Bay with a higher reserve price than when they bought it less than a month ago. Like it or not, the old big rig kits are in high demand and as long as people are willing to pay for these kits they'll keep selling for those prices. Shoot, the dual drive White Frieghtliner I wanted ended up going for well over $100. Waaaayyyyyyyyy out of my league, I know that!

I'm not offended. My stash is not big at all, but if it was, they'd all get built because that's what I am. The same goes for anyone else here--if you have posted some builds on here then your not a collector. As long as we can afford 'em, let's keep building 'em.
