I understand we all build other stuff but this forum is for commercial vehicles, mainly trucks. Please lets keep it that way.

Another one is the peerless logging trailer. I suppose it is the low supply. I look at it like this: Back when most of us started building models there were not a lot of choices and the prices were cheep. Now, there are a lot of new and different choices and the price may be higher but the quality of the kits has improved. Over time there has always been truck models and I do belive there always will be. Proberly won't always have your favorite oldies so I suppose that is where resin casting comes in. America Industrial Truck Models has a bunch of good kits and his invetory is growing. We will have to see what the future brings. Keep building it is FUN.

The price is not as ridiculous as the payment plan he offers.

The price is not as ridiculous as the payment plan he offers. Why would you think that is rediculous? I think it is great, he is trying to help get the kits into the hands of some of the people that dont have the big money to put out all at once, I think that is great, that to me says he is a modeler, not a dealer like so many of the others on ebay. A modeler wouldn't try to get $400 on 4 outdated kits.He probably paid half of whatever the reserve was. That's my opinion on it. I believe a true modeler wouldn't try to make a profit, just cover his expenses.

Well let's see....The last International Logger I bid on ended up going for $213. I have seen the Transstars bring over $125 easily, the other International can brings $75-100 as well and the mack also goes for at least $65 in this condition. All in all, for $405 with the ability to make payments and the willingness of the seller to work with the winning bidder, I think it's a more than fair price. It's too bad more sellers didn't make the effort like this seller did. I was going to bid on a Dual Drive White Freightliner and the price had gotten up to $286. I e-mailed the seller and asked if he would take two payments and hold the kit until the balance was paid. He replied calling me an idiot, stupid, a "dreamer" who wasn't serious about buying the kit, and so forth. I simply thanked him for being an a-hole and moved on. Ironically, about a month later the same kit was re-listed as the original winning bidder failed to pay the $310 for the final bid on that kit. Out of principle I refused to bid on his kit after his reply. The kit ended up going for just a little over $100 the 2nd time around. I'm still looking for my Dual Drive Freightliner too....Oh well...someday.

I know what you all mean. I been wanting to get another bj & bear but every time it gets down to 10 minutes or so left of auction the price shoots through the roof. I have one that i built years ago but the decals where cutup when i bought it. So it sets on my shelf with out decals but otherwise a nice truck.

Yeah, $17 is outta hand. I'd love that kit, the logging trailer kit, the movin on kit, and the K123coe, but not for what they're wanting...every week my watch item box is full of these kits and I watch the prices go up. On a plus note, one can buy a special run from AMT and if you can swing the cost{non mark up} of 3000 units, you could possibly get AMT to make any of they're old kits again. Model express does it two to three kits at a time from what I've seen. I'm trying to find the rerelease of the WF daycab/single axle...hobby lobbys around here are out and I don't readily feel like spending $50 plus "yet" to acquire one...then again I want an old testors milk trailer too{oh heck, it's a big list}.

a few perfect examples are: The original issue payhauler, up untill two months before the re-release this year the originals (even in junkyard form) were fetching upto $300. even now some people are asking this price for the originals, The tyrone malone collection, these trucks are regularly selling for $200 each (keep in mind, there are four in the set), Revell Simba (Rosebauer GFLF 8x8 airport fire tender), these things are damn hard to find and unfortunately some people like to exploit that fact and sell them with reserves of between $180-$300, And finally, my personal favorite is one that i really wish i'd bought when it was still in production, the Bill Signs peterbilt, this was an amazing kit but i think starting prices of $150 with reserve prices of around $200 is hard to justify.
Anyway, thats my two cents worth, but before i go, be careful who you are buying KFS parts from, i know that there are some people (not in the US) who are buying parts from KFS and listing them on ebay.com at higher prices and getting close to double what the retail prices are.
