Ok let me see if I'm following this. Since no one seems to be able to track down their member number, the truck number will be the last two digits of the year of the truck followed by the month and last two digits of our birth year? So, in my case I'm planning on a 1992 Kenworth T600, and I was born in June of 1968; my truck number would be 920668. Sound right? You almost got it. The 87 I used was a ficticious model year I threw at the beginning. So it would read Model Year (1987 = 87) Then digits of day you were born (12th) and then last 2 digits of year you were born (1961 = 61). Giving you the number 871261.

This CBT sounds like a great idea, but also sounds a bit confusing. I'm thinking I wont be participating in this build. I like the idea of using a set color combo, but I'm really not liking the idea of having to make or buy decals for this build. Also do I have to build a trailer too, if I'm building a tractor? I was hoping that we all could build a truck or whatever and be able to use our own design with using the 2 colors selected. This is just my opinion. Looking forward to seeing what you guys do that participate in this build. Johnny B

Well Johnny, the theme for this build is a "Fleet" build with a specific design and company name to parrallel our forum name and initials. It's a fairly straightforward build with a minimum amount of expense involved.

We still don't know who is providing the decals, or what the door logo will look like.

If worse comes to worse, we can use dry transfer decals found at your locla train and hobby shop. It would be nice to have a set logo with maybe a little design, but we can improvise. Keep in mind, alot of logos change over time as well. If we REALLY wanted to get in depth we could come up with an early design and one with a "modernized" logo. Again, just thinking out loud...

I don't think you need to build a trailer.Mark can answer that one better. From what I get about paint rules is they can be your own design, basic guide lines were provided.I'm doing a COE and the paint rules lend themselves better to a conv.,but I'll work out something.I'm just not feeling a blue frame ,silver lower cab, blue upper cab, without fenders.I got a long way to go till then.As far as the decals go,if someone would come up with some art work,I think that buying some decal paper and printing our own shouldn't cost that much.Is it??I've never bought the stuff and tried making decals, but think this is a good reason to try it.There's a whole 11.5 months left to finish, lots of time for decals Kevin

I totally agree Kevin and no, you don't have to build a trailer to go with your tractor. In fact, some may prefer to just build a trailer vs. a tractor. It's all up to the builder.
As for decals, if I'm not mistaken, you should be able to print off decals on decal paper through your printer just like you would make copies. The only difference is you're using decal papaer rather than regular copying paper. I could be wrong, but I think this is how alot of guys make their own. One thing to keep in mind though is that alot of builders say that after time the color on decals made like this tend to fade and they need to be redone. I've never seen it personally and I'm only relaying what I've been told.

Another option is now stay with me. I have done this before and it has worked. Go to you local supply store that carries Mailing Labels. ( Office Max, Office Depot, Staples, ) or any store with a well stocked stationary dept. Look for the clear labels. Then use (if your computer has it) Microsoft Words and experiment with the different sized fonts and colors. Follow the directions on what template to use for the labels and set it to print on every label. You will get about 30 Labels per sheet unless you do like me and double up on one label side by side to get 60. Using the clear will let you cut close to the letters and apply to the truck door or where ever. Also being clear you will still see the color of the truck below it. If you want you could use just the plain white label to have a white background. Just a suggestion that has worked for me in the past.

Otherwise, when you dip it in the water, all the ink will come off. As far as the fading, I haven't had that problem as of yet.

As far as the numbering of trucks goes, couldn't we just use white numbers, maybe 5 digits long? Use any combination of numbers you want, just be sure it's 5. I think the white numbers will show up pretty well on either the blue or the silver metallic. Just my 0.2 cents.
