hi everyone! This is the Italeri brand Pete 377 A/E and ive always wanted to build this one ever since i saw it when it came out. I Think this one will be built "almost" box stock with a slight few modifications but other than that it will be box stock! now enough chat and heres some pics for your enjoyment!- the kit- heres a start with the i guess they would be the air tanks or something (non trucker building trucks! ;D)- and here is the rear drive axles sub assembled ready to go on the frame when i get to that point!- here is the frame as far as i can take it before i have to start painting!- and this is a series 60 detroit aint it? cause the instructions say to paint it yellow! so tell me what you guys think and suggestions always welcome!

you've got a pretty good start. It is a series 69 the true color for those motors would be detroit blue but you can do it in any color you like.

The engine is suppose to be a Detroit Diesel Series 60, and these engines are sort of a blue-grey. Tamiya Medium Blue XF-18 is pretty close.

So did Italeri include a Detroit Diesel and try to pretend it's a Cat? That's trying a bit hard to avoid new tooling, if so.

Hi all
Italeri has two engines they use for their US trucks. The standard one is the Cummins NTC and for the newer trucks the Detroit Diesel 60 Series. I think they do not have the rights to produce that engines so they do not give them the real name and the colors they suggest to be used are just indiscriminately chosen. The Detroit Diesel is a very good an realistic engine kit in my opinion. So you will have to paint it in that Detroit Diesel green-blue.
So long Arnd

I don't think the Series 60 was Alpine Green.

There is one detail that I miss on the Italeri DD 60 model. I mean the power steering pump that is located on the front of the engine. That is where the blue hoses go in the picture. This particular engine is mounted in Western Star but each truck has to have one, I guess. Jarda

Yes, the older Detroit Diesel engines (71 Series & 92 Series) were Alpine Green.
Peterbilt had engines painted white for their trucks until the early 1980s (Caterpiller was the last to offer white engines in about 1986). After that Peterbilt went with OEM colors. Peterbilt does not manufacturer engines.
