I still have three other Autocar kits waiting in the wings. Wanted to do something different with one. Plus it was already pretty banged up, so I figured it was the perfect opportunity. Don't worry though. At least two of the other three will look nice and pretty.

Tyson, Very impressive technique you have there. I like your choice of cabs and I think yu will have one real nice looking model of a rusted out truck!

If MCM is Model Car Magazine, then I just put it there. Start 'splainin'.

Scratch built some custom exhaust modeled after a Howell and Sons Logging tractor I hopped onto the side of, melting the palm of my left hand in the process back in the early 2000s. While in the process, a bit of confusion came up. On the non-turbo engines, where does the air cleaner connect? I know on turbos the air cleaner connects directly to the turbo, but on the engine the instruction sheet tells you to build I have no idea where it connects. Looks weird just hanging there on the cab connected to nothing.

Great job on the rust, but one small problem. The radiator shell is aluminum and the fenders are fiberglass on the 1:1. Steve

Yeah, I decided a while ago that this build wouldn't be 100% accurate. In addition to what you pointed out the cab was also made to be rust resistant using an 8-layer zinc phosphate solution, and other such things, so I seriously doubt a truck of this age would get this rusted anyway. It's mostly just a learning build to get used to painting and building and stuff. That said, most people don't know or don't care that this truck most likely would never end up in this condition. Even on the boards filled with truck aficionados, you're the first person to actually point those things out.
Just building something to be neat more than accurate. Have plenty of kits waiting in the wings for those super accurate builds.

Oh, and you can't tell now after the weathering, but I actually did paint the radiator shell with aluminum metallizer paint.

Did some work on the engine. Painted Cummins beige and dirtied up.

Worked a bit on the log trailer. Nowhere near done. Painted the caution tape on. Don't care much for the decal it came with. Worked on the rack too. And built a hood thing-a-ma-bob that my brain won't let me remember the name of right now. Also added a bit of plumbing to the engine. Also built a stinger from scratch, but I haven't painted it up yet. I'll try to get to that this weekend and also pull the engine out and get some pics as well.
