I know you've done one hell of a nice job on thistruck. but to get around the glass fender issue, Put on the Pit fenders! and they would be more suited in my mind anyway. to a logger. But it is your model and built it your way and have fun doing it !!!@!

I thought about it for a while, but decided in the end to just power on. The pit fenders are a good idea, but there are two reasons I don't want to go that route. The first being that I don't have any pit fenders handy. The second is that I already had a backstory for the truck in my mind when I started the build, as I usually do. Helps me to know where I'm going with the truck. The backstory for this one is the logging company needed a truck specifically for off highway use. They didn't want to demote one of their good trucks, so they started looking around for a good candidate. Instead of looking through the classifieds they found this old girl sitting in a lot behind an old shed, and bought it off of the owner. After a few replacement parts she was good to go. Not the prettiest girl in the place, but she does her job well.
A few other reasons I decided to forego tearing it down and redoing it was A) 9/10 people that look at it don't know or don't care that the fenders should be fiberglass, and B) The old girl isn't accurate in several other areas as well. Since it was an eBay glue bomb there are several missing pieces. Again, nothing that most people will miss. Also, while I did do some plumbing to the engine, I'm sure it's not 100% accurate, but I wanted to add some detail to it to make it not look so plain.
On future kits I'll definitely keep all this stuff in mind though.

Tyson, I understand about your story line theme. And like you said there is always another project for new ideas! But you are making good progress on this one. I like it!

Here's the scratch built stinger. Haven't finished it since I've been working on other stuff.

Figured I'd throw up some pictures so you guys could see what mischief I've gotten up to. Gator suggested pit fenders to get around my "rusted fiberglass." I was resistant because I didn't have any pit fenders to put on it. After having it sit for a while I decided I'd do what any logger would do. Improvise. Built the fenders from scratch intentionally making it look like a patch job. You only barely make it out, since I just used my phone to take the pics, but I used putty to make weld lines. When it's done everything that's black will be the same red as the frame with rust throughs.

That looks magic , the fenders match the rustic old look . Whats the bracket over the radiator for ?

That part is a rad guard. Protects the radiator from falling logs and debris. Building the steps. It's just hanging there with blu tack for now, and the phone pic washed out most of the detail.

Pic's a bit washed out again. I'll try to get some better lit pics tomorrow. Scratch building front bumper and grill guard. Close to finished with this part. Also, I have an updated version of the rust tutorial I'll be posting soon.
