Hello everyone. The Long Hauler with the DTU is back. I left the project rest for a while but I blew the dust off now and I am ready to carry on. This time I kicked off with the other end of the truck. I was waiting for some items to arrive. Now that I have the ultra roof and photo-etched dashboard on my work bench, there is no more reason to keep it on hold any further. I have some interior paint left over from my London bus. I used it for this Pete as well. I replaced the kit seats by a pair made of resin. I attached them to the original base which makes them sit a bit higher. That is very desirable as the original seats appear to sit way too low in the cab. My compatriots of the CTM came up with a very useful set of photo-etched interior parts for Italeri Peterbilts. The set consists of a coloured dashboard, the seat belts buckles, two kinds of steering wheel spokes and a shifting pattern for the gear stick. This picture does not do the justice to the CTM work of art as I took it at night under the desk-lamp. You can se a better picture here: www.liaznavzdy.cz/nedtrans/pdf/04-2013.pdfNow my takes:

Jarda, Great work on the details. I really like the photo etch detail set, it really makes the dash look good.

Great work Jarda do you all make your own modes for the resin casting for your parts because I see I need to learn a lot more then just what is in the model boxes Thanks in advance

I am not sure if I got it right, Blackwolf, but I did not arrange for any castings yet. For me it is a bit long run. As my DTU is nearly finished and painted, I would have to make another one to serve as a master for casting. I am not on that track yet. I began painting the cab with a dark shade of blue. The finish turned out to be a bit rough. I sanded the worst areas and polished them a bit to be ready for another layer. But I only could take the pictures late in the evening and the flash has ruined the shade in the pictures. These are pretty close to reality: I tried to capture the shade that is on the box art but like I said, the flash gave it too much light. I was thinking of what rear fenders I should make. I chose separate round fenders for each of the duals. Two spray can covers cut in the middle seemed to be quite straight forward job. I cannot say that the four fenders are exactly identical in shape but I hope it is still acceptable. Jarda

No Mart. Unfortunately I never went to Jabbeke show. Some of my friends and the Czech Modelforum members visit the Jabbeke show on regular basis but I never joined them. Just didn´t feel up to. Maybe some day.

Jarda, The assembled cab looks great. That paint job with the very subtle weathering is cool. You are definetely raising the bar on this one.

Hi Jarda!
From where You got the wrecker crane on the back? Is it a kit or is it scratch built?

Hi Martin,
It is a complete scratch build. You can watch the progress on this thread, from page 1 on.
