Was sidetracked for a while, haven't forgotten this one though! Fifth wheel plate was taken from a "snap" KW kit as that one looked closer to what real truck had than the K123 kit part. Modified piece shown beside stock "snap" KW kit frame: And installed. More work to be done to replicate angle bolting it to frame:

Thanks! Slowly (I'm definitely not a fast builder! ) working away at attaching fifth wheel plate to frame (Evergreen 1/8" angle and .030 x .125 strip) and adding bolt head detail with .030 styrene rod. Kit fuel tank brackets used, some more modification required on those yet. Cab support on 1:1 truck was different from kit, starting point for these are brackets visible on frame at left side of photo built up from styrene strip:

A uniquely Canadian cabover feature: hub step. .020 styrene disk with .010 x .125 outer ring. Aluminum mesh tread surface (thanks Ray aka R766ST for the mesh!)

One of the "headaches" involved in cutting cab down to shorter BBC is smoothing out seam while preserving rivet detail. Going to try decal rivets to replace row around back wall of cab, this made sanding seam a lot easier. Also had to fill "peep" window on passenger door and hole for old style door handles, as well as louvers on front of cab just above headlight, passenger side. (In hindsight it would have been easier to flat-top an Aerodyne cab....... ) Quick shot of primer to check areas, some more filling & sanding required at front of cab:

Here are the decal rivets in place, they apply like any other waterslide decal. Film is fairly thin but durable and it was easy to apply the row of rivets across cab roof as 1 strip. Individual rivets can also be cut out and applied as required to fill in gaps, this was done on cab side in a few places. A little primer and they blend right in! Also added are window gaskets, .040 half round heated & bent into 4 pieces per window then trimmed & cemented in place. I read about that method in a recent Scale Auto magazine in the "Truck Stop" column.

Amazing and inspiring work! Interesting technique for making those troublsome window gaskets. Sure wish you'd consider doing a tutorial for plumbing a frame with all the hoses and lines...

Not a stupid question at all, cab height is a little deceiving at this point as front panels not installed yet along with rubber strip along bottom of cab side.
