I grew up seeing the 1:1 trucks in gold, Labatt's lost something IMO when they switched to blue. Close up of door, Bare Metal Foil on handle and door trim. Decals turned out OK after a couple false starts on the coins. They have just been applied here, setting solution and clear still to follow.

The gold & decals look good. When did Labatt's switch to blue?

I think the switch from gold to blue was sometime around late 1990's/early 2000's.

I had considered building new mirrors from brass wire, after looking at the kit parts realized they were fairly good and a couple small improvements could be easily made. Oversize tie-rod end appearance of braces was remedied by filing end down to look more like the flattened and drilled 1:1 end. Notches in mirror head where it attaches are covered with piece of .010 x .125 styrene strip, spot mirror is nicely molded but flat on mirror surface. Drop of epoxy gives it proper convex shape. Mirrors set in place on cab, nut/bolt/washer castings added where braces and spot mirror attach. CB antenna bracket is .100 styrene angle with 1/32 x .006 brass tube.

Each detail is a modelling lesson in itself. Taking notes!

Thanks guys! I do admit that finish work on gold & clear does look better in photos than in person....... Cab almost ready to install, exterior items in place and windows glazed. Just waiting on completion of a few interior parts now.

Very nice! Reference material & something to do at the hotel.
By the way, what gage wire is that on the CB?

Thanks Jim, wire is 30 gauge insulated. (outside diameter of insulation measures just under .020") I bought it at Sayal Electronics, don't know if they are a nationwide chain or Canada only. It comes in 50' rolls in various colours, being solid wire it holds its shape well once you have formed it. Same wire was used for washer hoses to wiper arms.

Thanks, I think I should be able to find something like that. What gauge wire do you use for your airlines? Something like 24WG solid phone wire?

Main air lines are exactly that: "repurposed" wire taken from telephone cord, wire works out to about .035" outside diameter. It is a bit stiff so behaves very similar to 1:1 brake hose when being routed. Small lines such as the ones to air ride valve I generally make with more of the 30 gauge insulated wire. (I'll admit I had to look at label to see what gauge it was, I look more at the outside diameter when shopping for wire to be used for detail items) Brass tube, .005 shim and strip used for rain cap along with .010 x .040 styrene strip and .025 styrene rivets (Tichy Train Group detail part) Kit muffler and grab handle used with Plano etched stainless "Peterbilt" style mesh wrap. Stack itself is K&S aluminum tube cut to length & polished. I drilled both ends of muffler and used one piece of tube right through. This is the easy part of stack, piping to engine is next.

Thanks for the info. I appreciate it. I work in the phone industry, so you'd think I'd be able to come up with a lot of phone wire!
The rain cap & stack look great.
